Ranthambhore National Park is located in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan. It is one of the largest national parks in northern India. It is nestled in between Aravali and Vindhya hill ranges. The park is spread in area of approximately 400 sq.km. Ranthambhore was earlier a wildlife sanctuary and Project Tiger reserve. It became national park in 1980. This park is famous for its tigers. Tiger safari and jeep safari are famous activities to enjoy in the park. There are many lakes in the park. Boating is also available in the park to amuse and entertain visitors.

Flora and Fauna in the Park
Ranthambhore Park is mainly known for its tiger but it also contains good diversity of animals, birds, reptiles and plant species. Leopard, sambar, chital, nilgai, black buck, flying fox, frog, wild boar, crocodile, lizard and birds are common fauna found in the park.

Dry deciduous plants like Dhok, Jamun, Banyan Tree, Neem, Khair, and Karel are the main flora of the park. However, Dhok is the main tree covering the forest.

Best Time to Visit
The period from November to March is the best to visit Ranthambhore National Park. The park remains close during monsoon season i.e. in July and August. However, one can also visit park during June –October, but climate remain adverse and you can get heat stroke as Rajasthan remains very hot during these months.

Getting There
Sawai Madhopur Railway Station is just at a distance of 11 km from the park. There is direct train from Delhi and Mumbai. Jaipur is the nearest airport. There is direst bus and train from Jaipur to Sawai Madhopur. From Sawai Madhopur Railway Station one can hire taxi or car rental service to reach the park.
