Jim Corbett National Park – It was named after the hunter turned famous ecologist Jim Corbett who played a key role in its establishment — is the oldest national park in India. This famous & first national park of India was established in the year of 1936 with the name Hailey National Park. Located in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, this India’s first national park acts as a protected area for the critically rare & endangered royal Bengal tigers of India, the safe endurance of which is the main purpose of Project Tiger of India.
Jim Corbett National Park attracts tourists with its unique geographical and ecological features. It is an ideal destination for eco tourism in India. There are about 500 different species of plants and a variety of fauna in this park. Travelers have wonderful opportunity to see splendid landscape of the park and diverse wildlife. The park is home to a variety of animals, birds and reptiles. There about 600 species of birds (domestic & migratory birds), 33 species of reptiles, 7 species of amphibians, 7 species of fish, and 50 species of mammals. Major attractions are royal Bengal tigers, leopards, buffalos, jungle cats, black buck, Himalayan black bears, goat-antelopes, sloth bear, leopard cats, sambars, hogs, jungle dogs, fishing cats, elephants, red jungle fowl, etc

How to Reach Corbett
