Keoladeo Ghana National Park is situated in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan. Earlier it was called as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. It was renamed as Keoladeo Ghana National Park in 1981. It is one of the best known bird watching destinations in India. The park is known to house more than 160 species of birds. Rickshaw safari is popular for bird watching in the park. There are some marshy lakes in the park. Tourist can enjoy boating in the park. In fact these lakes are the key area where birds group up to quench their thirst. The birds will hover over your head at the time of boating. The park has been declared as World Heritage Site.

Flora and Fauna in the Park
Golden jackal, striped hyena, fishing cat, jungle cat, nilgai, sambar, blackbuck, wild boar, etc are commonly found animal in the park. As cleared the park is mainly famous bird watching. It has more then 160 species of avifauna. Siberia crane and many other migratory birds visit the park during winter seasons.

The park has dense forest. So the name of the park contains the term “Ghana” or thick. The park has 64 families, 181 genera and 227 subspecies of flora. The park is mainly dominated with tropical dry deciduous forest. Most of the area of the park is covered by medium-sized trees and shrubs. Kadam, babul, jamun, kandli, ber, khus grass, water lily, khair, water fern, etc are commonly seen in the park.

The period from August to February is best to visit the park.

Getting There
The nearest airport is Agra. The park is situated at a distance of 55 Kms from Agra. From Agra tourists can get taxi or bus. You can also get train from Agra to Bharatpur. Bharatpur is also connected to Delhi, Jaipurand Mumbai with rail route. One can also found bus from Jaipur and Mathura to reach Bharatpur.
