The Char Dham, the four sacred Abodes of Gods are the main pilgrimage places in India. These sanctified places include Badrinath, Dwarka, Jagannath Puri and Rameshwaram. These places present the ambience of divinity and sublimity. According to Adi Shankaracharya Char Dham consists of two Vaishnavite, one Shaivite and one mixed site. The pilgrimage sites of Char Dham are situated in the four directions of India.

Badrinath : Badrinath is located in Uttarakhand, a northern state of India. It is situated in Garhwal hill on the bank of river Alaknanda.

Dwarka : Dwarka, the dwelling place of Lord Krishna is located in western state of India, Gujarat. It is located in close proximity to river Gomti.

Jagannath Puri : Jagannath Puri is located in East India in Orissa. It is one of the oldest cities in East India. Jagannath Puri Temple is the main attraction of the place.

Rameshwaram : Rameshwaram is located in the southern state of India, Tamil Nadu. It is believed that it is a place where Lord Rama built bridge connecting to Lanka.

But as the time passes the term “Char Dham” changes its denomination. Char Dham pilgrimage is now concentrated in Holy Himalaya where Adi Shankaracharya got incarnation. Earlier the denominations of Garhwal Himalayas were called as Chota Char Dham but after the mid-20th century they themselves got recognition as Char Dham.

Himalaya, the abode of snows inspired many saints and sages. The peace and pleasant surrounding is home to four sacred places of Char Dham. Himalayan Shrines of Char Dham include – Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Bardrinath. These places are frequently visited by devotees. These places give peace to mind, body and soul. These all pilgrimage places are positioned in Uttarakhand. The Char Dham are considered to be the most revered sites for Hindus. Yamunotri and Gangotri represent Shaktism, Kedarnath represents Shaivism and Badrinath represents Vaishnavism.

Detailed Day Wise Breakup / Itinerary for Chardham Yatra

Duration : 11 Night / 12 Days
Destination : Delhi – Haridwar – Barkot – Yamunotri – Uttarkashi – Gangotri – Guptkashi – Kedarnath – Pipalkoti – Badrinath – Rudraprayag – Rishikesh – Delhi

Day 01 : Delhi – Haridwar
Received and welcomed by our representative upon arrival in Delhi airport/railway station. Get transferred to Haridwar. Check-in at hotel at Haridwar. Evening aarti at Holy Ganges. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 02 : Haridwar – Barkot
Breakfast in the hotel. Drive to Barkot en route stopping at Kempty Fall. Check-in at hotel. Dinner will be served in hotel. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 03 : Barkot – Yamunotri – Barkot
Breakfast in hotel. Leave for Janki Chatti, the place from where one can trek to Yamunotri. Reach Yamunotri and take holy dip in Yamunotri Garam Kund. Pooja and Darshan of Shree Yamonotri. Trek back to Janki Chatti. Drive back to Barkot. Dinner and night stay in hotel.

Day 04 : Barkot – Uttarkashi
Sumptuous breakfast at hotel. Drive to Uttarkashi stopping en route at Shree Prakateshwar Cave. Continue drive and reach Uttarkashi. Check-in at hotel. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Day 05 : Uttarkashi – Gangotri – Uttarkashi
In morning leave for Gangnali to take holy dip in the Garam Kund. Continue journey and reach Gangotri via Harsil Valley crossing many majestic mountains. Reach Gangotri. Take holy dip in the River Ganga and after that go for Pooja and Darshan. Explore the beautiful surrounding. Drive back to Uttarkashi and check-in at hotel. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 06 : Uttarkashi – Guptkashi
Have breakfast in the hotel. Drive to Guptkashi. In the route you will cross through Moolgarh, Lambgaon, Dam View Point, etc. You will drive along the beautiful and sacred River Mandakini to reach Guptkashi. Reach and chek-in at hotel. Visit Shree Kashi Vishwnath Temple and Ardh Narishwar Temple in the evening. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 07 : Guptkashi – Kedarnath
Breakfast in the hotel. Take a drive to Gaui Kund. Take a holy dip in the Gaui Kund. Start trekking (14 Km) to reach Shree Kedarnath. Reach and check-in at hotel. Evening Aari and Pooja at Kedarnath. Visit Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 08 : Kedarnath – Pipalkoti
Pooja and Darshan in the temple. Trek back to Gauri Kund. Drive to Pipalkoti. Check-in at hotel upon arrival. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 09 : Pipalkoti – Badrinath
Breakfast in hotel. Drive to Badrinath en route stop at Shree Narsingh Temple for Darshan. Also explore the beautiful Hathi Parwat from Joshimath. Visit all popular destinations that come in the route. Reach Badrinath and check-in at hotel. Take holy dip in the Narad Kund and go for Darshan of Shree Vishnu Ji. Visit near by attractions like Mana Village (to see the confluence of Saraswati River and Alaknanda), Byas Gufa, Ganesh Temple. Return back to temple. Perform Aarti and Pooja in the temple. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 10 : Badrinath – Rudraprayag
Pooja and Darshan in morning at the temple. Come back to hotel and have healthy breakfast. Drive to Rudraprayag. In the route visit Vishnuprayag, Nandprayag, Karanprayag, etc. Reach Rudraprayag and check-in at hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.

Day 11 : Rudraprayag – Rishikesh
Have breakfast in the hotel. Drive to Rishikesh. In route see the confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda called as Devprayag, beautiful landscape of Srinagar and Garhwal. Continue journey and reach Rishikesh. Check-in at hotel. Evening visit to Laxman Jhula, Aarti of Ganga and return back to hotel of dinner and night stay.

Day 12 : Rishikesh – Delhi
After breakfast leave for Delhi. Get transferred to railway station or airport for onward journey to home.
