Holidays in Bihar are exciting and joyful experience. It is a state in eastern India. Patna, formerly known as Patliputra, is the capital city of Bihar. Bihar is very famous among Buddhist travelers. It is known for its culture, fairs & festivals and heritage sites. Bodhgaya, Vaishali, Rajgir, Nalanda, etc are world famous tourist places in this state which are very famous among tourists and Buddhist travelers. There are a number of tourist spots in Bihar you can visit and explore on your holidays in Bihar.

Bodhgaya is a word famous tourist place you can visit on your holidays in Bihar. It is the places where Siddhartha got enlightenment and became called Lord Buddha. The Mahabodhi Temple here is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Gaya is another pilgrimage site near Bodhgaya. Gaya and Bodhgaya are located at distance of 125 km from Patna, the capital city of Bihar.

Sonepur is also popular tourist places in Bihar. It is noted for its cattle fair which is celebrated annually around month of November. It is just 25 km away from Patna. Sonepur Fair is the largest cattle fair in Asia. Hariharnath Temple is a worth visit temple in Sonepur. The temple is dedicated to Hindu Lord Vishnu.

Nalanda, Rajgir and Pawapuri are three popular tourist places in Nalanda district of Bihar. Nalanda is world famous with ancient Nalanda University which is now in the state of ruins. Travellers from all over the world visit the ruins of Nalanda. The Nalanda University was one of the finest centers of Buddhist learning in ancient times. Scholars from all over the world came here. The beautiful hill town of Rajgir, Bihar is also famous for as health and winter resort with its hot water springs (also known as Kunds). It is believed that the springs here contain medicinal properties to cure all types of skin diseases. Venu Vana, Archeological Sites, Hot Water Springs, Sonbhandar Caves, Ropeway, Jivakameavan Gardens, Jarasandh ka Akhada, Naulakha Mandir, etc are attractions you will visit on your holidays in Rajgir, Bihar.
